Hourly to Salary Calculator
An hourly rate only becomes a budget once it is a yearly figure. Convert it here, at the hours you actually work, and see both the gross salary and what the tax layer leaves behind.

The 2,080-hour rule
Full-time, year-round work is conventionally 40 hours a week for 52 weeks: 2,080 hours. Multiplying an hourly rate by that number is what most salary offers are built on, and it is the default in the calculator above.
The convention is not a law, and the difference matters. Someone paid $25 an hour who takes three unpaid weeks off earns $25 × 40 × 49 = $49,000, not $52,000. Change the weeks field to 49 and the calculator follows you — the rate stays the same, the annual figure does not.
Two other things sit outside the multiplication: overtime, which is paid at a premium, and any week where the hours are not 40. A job advertised as “$25 an hour” with mandatory Saturday shifts is not a 2,080-hour job, and the annual figure should be built from the hours actually worked.

Overtime and bonuses
Under the Fair Labor Standards Act, hours beyond 40 in a workweek are generally paid at one and a half times the regular rate for non-exempt employees. Ten overtime hours a week at $25 is not $250 of extra pay, it is $375 — and it is taxed as ordinary income, not at a special rate.
Bonuses and commissions are treated the same way for withholding: they are wages. If a chunk of your annual figure is a bonus, run it through the bonus tax calculator separately, because a one-off payment is withheld differently from a regular paycheck.
The annual figure in the calculator is gross. For the amount that actually reaches your account, the result panel already subtracts federal income tax, the state you selected, Social Security and Medicare — or open the full calculator to add a 401(k) percentage, a health premium or a local tax.
